Baseball is a popular game not only in the US and Canada but increasingly in Central, South American as well as Asia. Loyal fans will pack stadiums to see their favourite players swing the bat and hit home runs. Smaller local leagues also attract a substantial following in their communities as amateur players play their hearts out to either relax or to chart their way to the big league.

If you are going to succeed as a baseball player, one thing you must be aware of is the different types of baseball gloves as well as the quality to look out for.

Different position players use different types of gloves ranging from infielder and outfielder gloves, to catcher and first base gloves. There are even gloves specially made for women and children.

The ideal glove should fit securely onto your hand and give you a good grip of the ball. When shopping for the gloves, take your time to try out several and look for one that best suits you. For the younger players, the 8-12 inches gloves are the most appropriate.

For adult players, anything between 10.5 and 13 inches can work. But for the professional player, 12 inch gloves are the best for consistent ball handling when in the field.

It is also important to be careful not to spend too much especially when buying mitts for your kids. Buying expensive gloves for your child is not be advisable since they will quickly out grow them. Instead, go for relatively good quality gloves but that come at a decent price.
